The new "old X" is finally here.

Year 2005 2.5 Full Spec Silver Gray Unit
I get Xenon lights, climate control, more horses and worn leather seats.

Love the HID. So bright. I can see everything.
Love the low rev the 2.5 does on the street

Sway bar bush and possibly the links are gonna need replacements. No wonder the tyres were balding out. It definitely looks like all X-trails in needs to have their sway bar aka stabilizer bar bushing changed at 5 years or less.

Would you consider me an 'expert' since this is my second X-trail ? hahaha

So far the throttle position sensor issue hasn't show up yet.
Need to monitor that 'small oil leak' at the valve cover the ETCM guys found. Hopefully not noticeable

Updated 17 March 2013:
Stuff that are confirm having issues
- Stabilizer bushings definitely out
- The air blower motor might be dying
- LH side mirror motor probably busted as it won't retract
- FR RH speaker no sound. Needs to be checked out
- engine rattling during throttling. TPS? not sure yet

Update 28 March 2013:
- Replaced the stabilizer bushes.
- air blower motor humming didn't hasn't shown up again
- Replaced cabin filter
- the stabilizer links feels like it could be due for replacement also.
- bought some new plugs but haven't replaced them yet
- ordered a drop in K&N air filter from UK after going round town for a week and nobody has the oiled air filter from Japan
- tinted the main screen IR Black + 4 mil security
- found that they listed my old car on mudah selling for 46888K!!! >_< If you plan to get that car come talk to me first :)

  2. your old X with the ending no 716? how much did u sell it off/trade in for?

such a waste Xtrail section of Mt forum is not active anymore

my 04 X is recently giving some issues. Perhaps happened after an engine wash. Now my aircond compressor seems to be cranky. The idle was also cranky until today i managed to diy reset the throttle valve, acc pedal and idle relearn. Now seems ok.....

As with all used car dealers they chop you like crazy. Trade in value is at 38k. The new ride cost 58k.

Yup sad thing bout the MT forum. I feel its due to the crappy interface they put in and the part where it forced everyone to go get new accounts. Your best bet for information would be the Aussie X-trail forum run by Jalal

I never really believed those engine washers though the X's should be more than able to handle the water in the engine bay.

As for your idle issue, have you change out any of your sensors yet? Eg, crank, cam, maf, O2? According to Jalal, when they past 100k, they usually start to give problems. The previous ride had the Cam/Crank ones changed around 100++. I was planning to change the O2 until I traded it in.

    2. yes..crank n cam sensor changed last yr at mileage 100k. preventive maintenance. i am very afraid of problems. Even did a radiator top replacement as my fren's X had a leakage..(same age n mileage as mine) and got chopped for rm250 for it at Sg dua shop (teik seah). i saw u did it for only rm180.

Anyway i solved the issue... seems like my rpm somehow got higher after the engine wash. i took the car to the sg2 shop and got my throttle body cleaned. yet... did not solve anything....until i DIY did the engine idle relearn procedure fr Aussie X-trail forum. (took me 5 times to get the timing " in seconds" correct). Immediately the rpm dropped to the normal 800-900 range from 1100.

Now the car is back to normal... smooth as usual. I am pretty happy with this car. I am also looking for a 2.5 X. Prefer direct seller. As long as cheap ... a bit higher than trade in value is fine.... i got to know they r trading in the 2.5X for rm43k (yr04). problem with 2nd hand dealers is they love to alter mileage and it is hard to judge the actual condition of the car.

    3. I wish the throttle body would have a auto-learn after every maintenance. Kind of annoying to have to initiate the relearn every time.

I hope you find your next ride. Its sad used car shops charges such a premium. Once we know how much they are chopping us for.. that is really a big turn off. Also I just got pinged by an agent - 2003 2.5 is just available. I can't remember which shop is. Anyway the agent's number is 016-four one nine six one eight nine. It should be one of the shops along green lane.

    1. Don't really have a prefered workshop I go to. Normal oil changes can be done anywhere. Been extending the oil change to 10k. Most of the major works are still done back in ETCM. Really wish they readjust their pricing for labour & parts. Real killer.

At least have a privilege card for loyal patrons..
